Our History

Since its founding in 1985, Randall Metals Corporation has grown to become the largest distributor of tin mill products in North America. The company is currently transitioning into second-generation ownership, as the sons of the CEO and President join the team.

1985

Randall Metals is founded by Larry Leffingwell, working out of a sales office in Bannockburn, IL.

1990

The company moves to Libertyville, IL, leasing office and warehouse space from Performance Metals.

1993

Jonathan Metcalf, President, joins the company.

1997

Randall Metals moves to Elk Grove Village, IL. Construction begins on our Salisbury, NC plant, and later in the year, production begins in Salisbury with a 48" Stamco and a 14" Rafter slitter.

1999

Production begins in Elk Grove Village with the purchase of a 60" Chicago slitter.

2000

The first addition is made to our Salisbury plant.

2003

A second addition is made to the Salisbury plant and a 62" Braner slitting line is installed.

2006

The company opens a ship AS/IS warehouse in East Chicago, IN.

2011

Randall Metals purchases the building at 3777 Canal Street, East Chicago, IN, including a 60" Pro Eco and a 72" Wean slitter.

2013

The majority of our production and shipping moves to the East Chicago plant and the Ship AS/IS warehouse closes. Our 40" SECO and 24" Rausch lines move to East Chicago.

2015

A state-of-the-art 72" Athader slitting line is installed in our East Chicago plant.

2018

Randall Metals corporate headquarters relocates to Rosemont, IL.
